Purex Plus Oxi Review

If you've read my blog before you've learned that I am a Purex Insider. I love being an Insider because I get to try great products and let you know what I think about them.

When I was sent the new Purex Plus Oxi  laundry detergent, I was so excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, before I was able to wash one load of laundry, my 25 + years washing machine broke down!
My hubby has brought it back to life many times before, but this time it was truly the end. My dryer still works, but it's just as old, so out we went to shop for a new washer and dryer. Long story short, we did find a great pair, and have them on order. They should be delivered by the second week of December. In-between all the shopping around, I did manage to do a few loads of laundry at the mat, and use the Purex with Oxi.

I loved how clean the clothes turned out, and they smelled so nice too! Even my husband's work clothes, which sometimes I have have to wash twice, only needed the one wash. I even used it to handwash items in our laundry room sink after our washer broke. I was very happy to see how clean everything came out. Thank goodness we still have our dryer, because I have no room to hang anything, and it's too cold outside!
I was so pleased with the results, I will be putting Purex Plus Oxi on my shopping list-and it will be the detergent I use for my first load of wash when my new washing machine is installed!

Purex Plus Oxi has three different stain-fighting enzymes, which helps it work against 101 different stains. This can be used to pretreat stains as well. All you do is, pour a little on the stain, rub together and let sit for at least five minutes before putting in the wash.

Purex Plus Oxi has also been tested and is proven to be hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin!

The three stain-fighting enzymes in Purex plus Oxi each work against different types of stains for the most Purex stain-fighting power you can get.

Soft Scrub Total Review

Soft Scrub has a great line of some awesome home cleaning products, and recently I was sent two products to try out. The first product was Soft Scrub Total Bath & Bowl cleaner.

Now I never look forward to cleaning my bathrooms, (who does?), but was excited to see how well this product would work.
One thing I really liked-you can switch from fine mist to thick foam when needed and the bottle even sprays upside down! It also deodorized the toilet bowl, sinks, shower, tub, and left that nice clean smell, that only a clean bathroom can have.
Also, and I know this product is intended for bathroom use, but I just had to try it out on my refrigerator ice maker tray. Sometimes water gathers at the bottom, and what's left behind is scale and lime deposits. In the past, I've  scrubbed and scrubbed, but can never get all of it off.  I squirted a tiny bit of the Soft Scrub foam in the tray, let it sit for a couple minutes, and to my surprise, the tray wiped clean. No hint of scale or lime anywhere. So easy!

Next I tried the Soft Scrub Total All Purpose cleaner. I used it on my stove, and loved how well it worked on the burners. I usually wash them in soap and water,  but I found that they came out shinier when I used the Soft Scrub. And what's great is that there's no rinsing required. That in itself is a great time saver! I also used it on the outside of my top loading washer and dryer. Both came out clean and smelling fresh. I'll be using this product for these uses, and many more I'm sure.

I enjoyed trying out these products, and can highly recommend them. The bottles have different colors on them, so they're easy to find in your cupboard. Also, having a product that you can use upside down is so very useful. Great for all those hard to reach spots! For those tasks that require either foaming action or spray, the nozzle on Soft Scrub Total gives you those options.

And don't forget to ENTER the Soft Scrubs Tough and Gentle Sweepstakes where you can win $1,000!  There will also be 50 2nd place winners who will receive $40 if Gift Cards.

*I was sent these products to review an give my honest opinion.

This house needs color!

This is a picture of our dining room and part of the kitchen right before we moved in. While I love, love, love the house, every wall is white! A color makeover is something it definately needs!

Cool blog alert!

If you love freebies, coupons, and other cool stuff, then you may be interested in this very eye-pleasing blog. As an example of what I consider a very cool, somewhat quirky, funny freebie, is Nasa's send your face into space.

I'm not kidding!

It goes like this. You upload a picture of yourself, input a little info, pick the mission you want your face to travel on, and quicker than you can say, bang, zoom! Your off and running..um, I mean flying. There's also an option to just send your name into space, if your not comfortable with giving them a picture.
The space shuttle program is ending with just a couple of missions left, so this may be a cool way to remember it by!

So check out this cool Nasa freebie, and all the other neat stuff this blog has to offer. They also have an RSS feed to keep you updated on all their daily finds.

Hubby's clothing dilemma

My husband has jury duty today. In fact, he just left in our car and I'm pretty sure he's a little nervous about the whole thing. But at least he looks nice.

They instructed jurors to wear appropriate clothing for today, which doesn't include jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, tennis shoes, sandals..wait a minute..sandals? It can't be more than 10 degrees outside. Who in their right mind would be wearing sandals in the wintertime?
Hubby awoke bright and early this morning, and was in a frantic state. What will he wear? Standing on the upstairs landing looking down at me in the living room, he asks, "What do I wear today?' I say to him, "Pants and a shirt."  More than a few minutes pass, and by then I figure he's probably dressed and will be down soon. Nope.
"I don't have anything to wear!" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Visions of every shopping excursion I ever had flashed through my mind. All the shirts, sweaters, and pants, in every color and style that I ever bought for him, have suddenly vanished this morning. He couldn't find one thing that either matched or fit. Without going upstairs, I calmly stated that his brown Docker pants would be a fine option for the proceedings. A few minutes went by and he finally came downstairs. He had on the Dockers, and a light blue striped short-sleeved shirt.
"Your going to freeze in that shirt. I said. Why don't you put a sweater over it?"
"I don't have anything that will go with this."
"Yes you do" I said. So back upstairs he went.
A couple of minutes later, and I have to say, I was very surprised that he found something so quickly, especially after proclaiming in the beginning that he had absolutely nothing to wear. He was wearing a very nice dark blue long sleeved pullover sweater with a light horizontal yellow stripe towards the top. He looked very nice, and I'm sure will impress everyone, well, almost everyone he sees today.
As for myself, I'm praying this is a one day trial, so he doesn't have to go back tomorrow. If he does, maybe I'll just pretend to be asleep.

The Truth Of The Matter
by Andrew Klavan

This book is the third installment in The HomeLanders Series by Andrew Klavan. I hadn't had the pleasure of reading the first two books, and I was a little skeptical that I would be able to follow the story. My doubt faded as I finished reading the first few chapters. Not only was I able to grasp what the main character's (Charlie West) backround was, but I was eager to continue reading to see how his adventure would unfold.

Book Description
(Provided by Publisher)
www.thomasnelson.com

Charlie is certain that if he could just regain his memory, the chaos around him would make sense. But the truth of the matter is even more incredible than he could imagine.

Charlie West was an ordinary high school kid who went to bed one night and woke up in the clutches of terrorists and wanted by the police for murder. He also woke up with no memory of the events of the past year.

Now Charlie has found the one person who knows what happened . . . and who can help him remember. But remembering is painful--as well as dangerous--and figuring out what to do with  this new knowledge may be Charlie's toughest challenge yet.

I found this book to be a patriotic and faith based story. Charlie wants to do what's right, all the while thinking of his family, and wondering if his actions will hurt the ones he loves. He relies on his faith in God to get him through his ordeal, all the while struggling to regain his memory and find his purpose. I found some of his predicaments a little far-fetched for a boy of eighteen, but this is fiction, so I took that into account. The situations he finds himself in are vivid, suspenseful, action packed, and the reason why I was able to finish this book in one day. The final chapter gives us some of the answers that Charlie and us, the readers, had been searching for. Questions still remain, as the last book in The Homelanders series, The Final Hour, is to be out in August 2011.

Even though this is juvenile fiction, and geared more towards teenagers, I enjoyed this book very much. I recommend this for anyone looking for a suspense filled, and well written novel.

Goodbye 2010

I can't believe we're already saying goodbye to another year. Where has the time gone? There's been some huge news stories, such as the BP oil disaster, Iran's nuclear defiance, the housing meltdown, Chile's miner rescue, WikiLeaks, and one that I won't soon forget-the accident that took the life of luger Nodar Kumaritashvili during a training run at the winter olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. So young, and such a tragic ending for a wonderful athlete.

This past year we've also lost quite a few celebrities. I was sad to learn of Tony Curtis's passing. I've always enjoyed his films, especially "Some Like It Hot". It never gets old seeing him and Jack Lemmon dressing up in drag. One thing I never knew about him until recently, is that he was an accomplished artist.  If you care to see some of his artwork, you can do that here.

If you'd like to reflect and remember more of those who were famous but have passed on this year, you can find them here .

So much can happen in a year's time. People move, they give birth, they divorce, they get promoted, they lose their jobs, they get engaged, they lose weight, they gain it back, and so on, and so on. Such is the way of life. We go about it on a daily basis, leaving every day behind, one after another. Hoping that a better tomorrow comes with the next sunrise. Sometimes it does, and sometimes we shake our heads and mutter, "Why does everything bad happen to me!" Alas, we go on. Still forging ahead, making our way to wherever our lives and fate leads us.

I hope to be able to look back at 2010, and remember the highs and lows fondly.  Not for too long though. I plan to be busy greeting 2011 like there's no tomorrow!

Wishing everyone better days ahead,  and a 2011 filled with hope, good health, prosperity, and love.

~Happy New Year~

The magic of Winter

Brown grass, brown trees, brown leaves wrinkled and crumpled, have all been replaced by a winter wonderland today. White and fluffy it came. Falling on treetops, buildings and streets-covering everyhing in it's path. Cars driving by with their wheels making a slushing sound, made me wonder where everyone was going in such a hurry? Slow down, look up. Do you see the wonder of it all? Do you see the magic that is winter? Take time to step out of your car, your warm house, and look up, look around you. See that snowflake falling down? Stick out your tongue and feel it's coldness, it's sweet reminder as it melts slowly into your mouth. There's magic to be found there, in that one tiny snowflake. It's telling you that the earth is renewing itself. Blanketing all the despair and misery with hope. Hope that the season will bring kindness towards others. Sharing what you have, no matter how little you have to give. Let this canopy of white be what you need to rejoice, to remind you that a simple snowflake holds the power of faith and rejuvination of spirit.
And don't forget to look up.

Back To The Future

I seriously love the Back To The Future trilogies. I've given up counting how many times I've seen each of the movies. It seems like you can flip through the tv channels at any one time, and at least one of the movies will be on.

These days it's rare to see Michael J Fox, except for the occasional talk show gig, so I was thrilled to find this clip on Youtube. It did my heart good to see him looking so well, and Lea Thompson looking as young and pretty as I remember her. The years since Back To The Future was filmed, have certainly been kind to her!
